Man accused of killing girlfriend in their Sherman Oaks home, leaving her in vehicle in Simi Valley

  Officials said Wednesday, December 29, that a man suspected of murdering his girlfriend at his home in Sherman Oaks and leaving her body in a Simi Valley car was arrested. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Angela Kukawski was reported missing on Wednesday, December 22, and was found in her car parked in 1500 blocks on Patricia Avenue in Simi Valley. Jason Barker, 49, was detained the next day on suspicion of murdering her. According to sheriff inmates’ records, he was in a Van Nuys prison and was in a $ 3 million prison. Police said the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office had charged him with murder. Officials said he believed Barker had killed Kukawski at home, put her body in her car, drove to Simi Valley and left. According to Variety, her five mother, Kukawski, was a 55-year-old business manager at Boulevard Management in Woodland Hills. 2 teens arrested on suspicion of arson for Moorpark fire: Sheriff

Two teens were arrested for allegedly throwing incendiary devices that caused a fire at a Moorpark arroyo last week, officials announced Tuesday. Nov 30, 2021 The juveniles, ages 15 and 16, were each booked on suspicion of arson of property and possession of a destructive device, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a  news release . Just after 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 24, the Ventura County Fire Department received a call of a fire in the arroyo south of the 200 block of Moorpark Avenue. Crews arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire, which was contained to a sewer drainage channel. No structures or wildland areas were threatened. Deputies from the Moorpark Police Station responded and conducted an investigation of the fire and deemed it “suspicious.” Arson investigators then determined the fire was the result of arson by incendiary device. Ventura Police Arrest Moorpark Man For Attempted Arson, Murder

  MOORPARK (CBSLA) –  Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputies on Friday arrested a man for attempted murder and arson in Moorpark on Moonsong Court. The incident was reported early on Friday, at around 10 a.m., when authorities found a man, Shaka Watkins, attempting to light a residence on the street on fire. Two victims were involved in the incident, both of whom are related to Watkins. An altercation broke out between the two males involved in the incident, with Watkins injured the other man enough to require medial treatment at a local medical facility.According to reports, which identify Watkins as a transient, he had poured a significant amount of gasoline on a vehicle outside the home, the front door and the garage door. He is currently being held at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility with a bail set at $1.5 million. Murder arrest follows woman's death in Moorpark hotel incident

William Koznar A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a 36-year-old woman's death after she was found severely injured in a Moorpark hotel room Wednesday morning, authorities said. The woman, whose name has not yet been released, died at a Simi Valley hospital late Wednesday afternoon. Ventura County Sheriff's Sgt. Marta Bugarin, a spokesperson for the agency, released additional details about the case Thursday morning. The sheriff's office is contracted to provide police services in Moorpark. Hotel staff at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Suites at 14350 White Sage Road called the sheriff's office shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for a disturbance in the lobby, Bugarin said. The site is on the east side of Highway 23 near the junction with Los Angeles Avenue.

2 dead in apparent murder-suicide in Moorpark

  MOORPARK – A married couple, both 91, were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds in Moorpark Saturday in what authorities have described as a possible murder-suicide or similar scenario. At about 11:50 a.m., a man called 911 and requested that deputies come to a home in the 11100 block of Broadview Drive in southwest Moorpark, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, which is contracted to provide police services in the city. The caller reportedly told a dispatcher that the deputies would find two bodies at the house, authorities said. Investigators believe the man who made the call was the male victim at the scene, sheriff's officials said Sunday. The couple was identified Sunday as Robert and Mildred Peskay, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.   ASBURY PARK - Three male victims of a shooting on Bangs Avenue in the city Tuesday night suffered severe but not life-threatening injuries, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. The shooting at Bangs near Ridge Avenue happened around 6 p.m., Chris Swendeman of the prosecutor's office said. He did not offer a motive. Shots were fired a few blocks away on Church Street a little less than four hours later, he said. No injuries were reported. "It's alarming and it's disappointing," Asbury Park Mayor John Moor said before referring the call to the prosecutor's office.
